Sharp MX-B355W, MX-B455W

A new series of monochrome A4 printers have been released by Sharp. As far as most folks in the USA are concerned, this printer has a small footprint due to the fact that it will only print on letter and legal. A4 is a European paper size that most people in the USA don’t use. The price point is lower than that of it’s A3 speed counterpart. The MX-B355W / MX-B455W are replacing the long-reigning MX-B402 series that have been in production for the better part of a decade, so they are welcome!

Factory Standard Features

This series comes out of the box with a variety of standard features, most of which are expected this day and age. However, it doesn’t stop there. Plenty of nifty and Sharp exclusive features are packed into this compact and productive system.

  • Copy, Print, Scan, AND Fax are standard out of the box.
  • MX-B355W has a 50-sheet reversing single-pass feeder.
    • The feeder can handle letter, legal, statement(8.5 x 5.5), and business card size original documents.
  • MX-B455W has a 100-sheet duplexing document feeder which scans both sides of a two-sided original in one pass without flipping the paper around. For offices that do a lot of 2-sided copying and scanning this feature is a huge time saver.
    • The feeder can handle letter, legal, statement(8.5 x 5.5), and business card size original documents.
  • Built-in OCR(optical character recognition) can convert scanned docs into text searchable PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint documents. Also, you can scan several business cards off of the glass and let your MX-B355W or MX-B455W create an Excel spreadsheet of contacts automatically.
  • Standard paper capacity is 1 x 500 sheet tray and a 50 sheet bypass. With options, the capacity can be expanded to 2,350 sheets of paper
  • Offset sorting is standard, an internal stapling finisher is optional.
  • A compact PDF kit is standard in these models as well. The kit significantly reduces the file size of scanned color documents resulting in much less network traffic and storage space being utilized. Our competition relies on software to achieve this.
  • A 7-inch hi-res color touch screen display can be customized to your workflow and have a custom image with your logo used for the background.
  • Standard PCL and Post Script printing handles printing for both Windows and Mac computers.
  • Direct printing from a USB thumb drive can print PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint files directly from the panel with no need for a computer with proper drivers installed
  • 256-bit encryption and overwrite technology is standard, as well as an End-Of-Lease feature which wipes all personal data from the machine at trade-in time.
  • Sharp OSA is standard.
  • Apple AirPrint is standard as well, for printing from iPhone and iDevices.
  • Android Printing Framework is built in, utilizing the Sharp Print Service Plugin
