Sharp Continues to Stay Ahead of the Global Chip Shortage Providing Dealers with Our Best-Selling MFP Products

New versions of A3 and select A4 Workgroup MFPs mitigate global chip shortage enabling dealers to fulfill orders!

As part of Sharp’s ongoing efforts to ensure enhanced product availability during the global chip shortage, Sharp has made strategic manufacturing changes to our A3 and A4 workgroup product lines related to the wireless interface. The chipsets used in the wireless interface for Sharp workgroup models are in limited supply due to the global chip shortage. While the wireless function is not often required, the following action will be taken to circumvent this issue for dealers and maintain product availability:

  • New Advanced Series A3 models will be phased in with the wireless interface as optional. The new models, which have been redesigned to accommodate this change will include the letter S in the suffix and will begin shipping this month and throughout the first quarter. The S suffix will appear on the serial number plate, webpage, and packaging, but not on the front cover. Orders for current models will be substituted with new S models. Customers can order the MX-EB18 Wireless LAN Adapter at a discounted rate if required.
Current A3 (up to 12 x 18 output) Models New A3 Models Will Begin Shipping

  • New Advanced Series A4 models will be launched in March with a new standard wireless interface that supports WPA3 encryption, which is the latest generation of wireless security. The new models will include the letter H in the suffix (including front cover).

Sharp has been the industry leader in staying ahead of these challenging supply chain issues, but they still exist. It’s tough to quickly fulfil an order, so please give us as much lead time as you can when you’re planning for your copier/printer/scanner needs.
