Sharp has introduced a couple of new models in the high-speed color laser printer market. The Sharp MX-6580N and MX-7580N (Polaris 2) are being added to the award-winning MFP lineup, replacing the tried-and-true MX-6240N, MX-7040N.
Utilizing the same touch screen interface as the Advanced series machines (MX3070N, MX3570N, MX4070N, MX5070N, MX6070N), end users will be familiar with machine operation right away. Sharp has focused on integrating several different cloud services to help streamline scanning workflows in various work environments.
Key Features of the MX-6580N/MX-7580N high-speed color document systems
- Ease of Use – Sharp’s customizable touchscreen display offers a user-friendly graphical interface with a clean design, simplified Easy Modes and integrated operation guides.
- Integration – Equipped with the latest version of Sharp OSA® technology for easy integration with network applications and cloud services, these models can unlock advanced capabilities to help you better manage your workflow.
- Advanced Color Workflow – The latest MX-PE12 Fiery® Print Server is available for environments such as corporate offices, Central Reprographics Departments and in-plant printing facilities that require precision color control and job management.
The following cloud based services can be accessed directly from the touch-screen of Polaris 2:
- Microsoft OneDrive for Business
- Google Drive
- Microsoft SharePoint Online
You can also connect to Gmail, Office 365 locally, and Office 365 cloud services to send/print emails directly from the front panel after logging in with your credentials.
Powerful Scanning Features
Sharp MX-6580N / MX-7580N can scan at speeds of up to 200 images per minute. The document feeder holds 150 sheets and has a dual-head scanner that scans both sides of a 2-sided original in one pass without flipping the paper. The compact PDF kit is standard in these models, meaning you can scan large color documents without having to worry about your file size. In addition to scanning quickly and efficiently, the Polaris 2 can create a wide variety of file types directly from the touch screen panel. Any of these files scan be put through the native OCR engine to create searchable, editable files. Scan in the following file formats:
Network Printing with Polaris 2
The Sharp MX-6580N prints at 65 pages per minute, whether you’re printing in color or B&W. The MX-7580N prints at a staggering 75 pages per minute! You can print from Windows PCs or Mac computers since PCL and Post Script are standard in the Polaris 2. Apple AirPrint is standard so you are also welcome to print from your iPhone and other Apple devices. Sharpdesk Mobile is available to use for same-network mobile printing. If you are out and about, you can connect your Sharp to Google Print to print from anywhere. Server-less print release is standard as well. Bring your own USB storage device to the panel and print a variety of file types without the need for a computer or a print driver. The latest MX-PE12 Fiery® Print Server is available for environments such as corporate offices, Central Reprographics Departments and in-plant printing facilities that require precision color control and job management.
Boasting print resolution of 1200 x 1200 DPI, the micro-fine toner creates a stunning, professional quality image.
Customize Your MX-6580N / MX-7580N
The options for configuration are quite extensive. The standard paper capacity is 3,100 sheets, with options to expand this to 8,500 sheets of paper online! Choose from a variety of finishers that will staple, saddle-stitch, punch, insert sheets post-print, and trim. As you can see from the slideshow of pictures above, the Polaris 2 can accommodate nearly every function imaginable in your printing workroom.
